About the Program
The aim of the MSc program in Medical Physiology is to educate a scientist who possesses certain knowledge and skill in the field of medical physiology, has the ability to conduct scientific research, access to information, evaluate and interpret information, and possesses the ethical and social qualities of the universal scientist. In addition to lectures, seminars and practical studies, the student also prepares a thesis. Duration of the education is 4 semesters (2 years); the first two semesters are the lecture’s semester and the next two semesters are the thesis period. In order to graduate from the program, the students must have completed at least 120 ECTS credits, including at least 9 courses including a seminar and thesis which are not less than 60 ECTS in one academic year.
Graduates of the Master of Science (MSc) Program in Physiology may receive the title of Science Specialist upon completion of the program and may take part in the academic staff of the Physiology Departments of the Faculties of Health Sciences of all universities or they can continue their academic life by continuing Doctoral programs by obtaining the title of Doctor. They also conduct health projects in the public or private sectors. In addition, they can continue their studies abroad in various universities or research units.
The studies mainly are on exercise physiology, aging, endocrine system physiology, electrophysiology, neurophysiology, blood physiology and cardiovascular system physiology are conducted in our department.
The aim of this course is to educate medical physiology specialist with the knowledge of general medical physiology, literature knowledge and laboratory skills related to at least one research topic with ethical and social qualities of the universal scientist.
- Sufficient knowledge in the field of medical physiology and other basic medical sciences to support physiology knowledge,
- Current literature on research topics,
- Ability to follow developments in medical physiology and research,
- Knowledge on laboratory safety and research ethics,
- Ability to use basic laboratory devices and special devices related to the subject,
- Giving the ability to make presentations and transfer information.
Education language is Turkish.
Transition to Upper Programs
Candidates who have successfully completed the Master's program can study in Doctoral programs provided that Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) to take a valid grade from the relevant field, a sufficient level of foreign language (ÜDS, KPDS, TOEFL, etc.) (one of the language exams accepted by The Interuniversity Council) and have a valid grade from the interview conducted by the related department.
