1. ABOUT PROGRAM

  1. Objective :

Nowadays, every technical problem has an aspect of electrical, electronic and information technologies. Therefore, electrical and electronic based products and systems are available in almost every area of our lives. Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a broad branch of engineering related to the design, development, operation, maintenance and repair of products and systems in many kinds of business fields, especially in the production and distribution of energy, industrial control systems, production technologies, information technologies and communication technologies. Istanbul Medeniyet University Electrical and Electronics Engineering Master Program aims to educate graduates who are equipped with the knowledge and skills to follow the international developments in these fields, conduct original and advanced research in their field, solve the problems of the industry with scientific methods and thus contribute to science and technology and adhere to ethical values.

  1. Goal :

To educate senior engineers who can make independent and right decisions, solve problems with scientific methods and thus contribute to science and technology.

Spring 2016

2. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Among the applicants who will apply for the Master's program, the ones who meet the following application conditions will start the program.

  • Having a bachelor's degree in one of the related fields
  • Having at least 75 standard scores from the academic staff and graduate education entrance examination (ALES) in the type of score related to program
  • Having at least 55 points from YDS or any other English language exam accepted by YÖK
  • Being succesfull in interview/talent evaluation
  • Applications for exchange students are made according to the conditions of admission in the bilateral agreement signed by Istanbul Medeniyet University and the partner university.
  • Special students can register to the courses given in this program with the approval of the related department.

3. MASTER PROGRAM’S QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AND REGULATIONS (OUTCOMES)

Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department's graduate students are expected to acquire the following knowledge, skills and behaviors until graduation:

  1. Can identify engineering problems in his field and produce innovative solutions for them by combining in-depth knowledge acquired in one of the areas of expertise of Electrical and Electronics Engineering with current scientific research topics. (Depth)
  2. Can have knowledge about sub-areas related to the expertise in electrical and electronics engineering and/or about related areas in the other disciplines. (Breadth)
  3. Can keep abreast of current scientific studies and technological developments in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, anatomize them, start and end a scientific research and renew himself. (Research)
  4. Be aware of new and emerging applications of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, examine and learn them when needed. (Life-long Learning)
  5. Can express the results obtained from Electrical and Electronics Engineering studies in written or verbally in national and international environments in or outside the field. (Communication Skills)
  6. Respects social and scientific ethics in addition to professional ethical values in all professional activities. (Ethics)

6. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

In order for the students studying in this program to graduate,

  • Students are required to register for at least 8 courses (24 local credits), Seminar Course,  Specialization Field Course and Master Thesis and complete 120 ECTS credits.
  • In order to be successful in a course in the program, he / she must have obtained at least CB grade from that course.
  • Students are required to have at least 2.50 GPA out of 4.00 and to be successful in Seminar course and Master Thesis Defense.

6.1. Assesment Methods :

Examination (Midterm, Quiz, Final), Experiment, Homework, Project

6.2. Qualification Awarded :

When the program is completed successfully and the program qualifications are provided,  Master's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering will be awarded.

7. OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES OF GRADUATES AND ACCESS TO FURTHER STUDIES

Job opportunities in the fields of research and development, production, testing, quality control, marketing, business, and maintenance and repair are available in the public and private sector having the activity area such as power generation and distribution, electric motors, transformers, electronics, micro electronics, nano electronics, communication, wireless communication, satellite communication, computer networks, signal processing, computer and software, automatic control, biomedical, measuring instruments, robotics, artificial intelligence, microwave, antennas and radar systems.

Graduate students of this program may apply to study in doctoral programs.
