General Information About Program
History:
Department of Economics at Istanbul Medeniyet University was established in 2010.
Program Goals:
The primary objective of the Non-Thesis Master’s Program in Managerial Economics is to enable students to follow scientific developments and innovations in the intersecting fields of management and economics, to equip the students with necessary skills in strategic decision-making, financial and cost management, and to apply these methods and techniques in their professional careers. It is aimed to provide students with the most recent knowledge on managerial economics and to make them think and act as managers in their professional lives. Therefore, the program aims to train qualified managers and entrepreneurs.
Objectives:
The program aims to provide the most recent theoretical and practical perspectives needed by managers in macro- and micro-economic processes. At the same time, it is aimed to contribute to the development of qualified human capital for the real sector.
Program Requirements
ALES (Turkish Aptitude Test) and Foreign Language Tests scores are not required for applying to the non-thesis master's program in the Department of Economics at Istanbul Medeniyet University. However, applicants are required to submit the transcripts during the application process and to take written or oral exams.
Key Learnings Outcomes:
1. Students are able to understand national and international literature in the field managerial economics and conduct independent scientific research on the subject.
2. Students have knowledge about the basic stages of a scientific research process and the current methods to be followed in the steps of scientific research.
3. Students are able to prepare research proposal and produce functional research designs.
4. Students are able to use the basic quantitative research techniques that is necessary in the research process and can use the software programs for the implementation of these techniques effectively.
5. Students have knowledge about current economics applications and methods.
6. Students have the consciousness to act in accordance with the general ethical principles.

Graduation Requirements:
The program’s language of instruction is Turkish. The program covers a maximum of 3 semesters of which the 2 semesters consist of course work. Students who successfully complete the courses work are required to prepare a graduation project and present it successfully under the supervision of an advisor. For graduation, it is compulsory that 30 credits of courses are to be taken and accomplished except the Graduation Project.
Employment Opportunities:
Students who graduate from the Non-Thesis Master Programs cannot continue doctoral studies. Our graduates work as manager in private and public sector.
