About MA in Management in Educational Institutions
Graduate program of Management in Educational Institutions is designed for those who come from different disciplines and wish to specialize in the management and operation of public, private and international educational institutions.
This interdisciplinary program aims to provide executive competencies to meet the increasing demands of social change for educational institutions. In this context, our program focuses on educational change, technology leadership, performance management, budgeting skills, management of special education and counseling services, project management, data-based decision making, school-based management, action research and contracting skills. With these skills, our program differs from traditional educational management departments.
Keeping up with the expectations of the private educational institutions, which are increasing in vast number every day in our education system, has become an important issue for universities that train manpower in the field of education. The program caters to a wide range of people, from those who plan to invest in the education sector to those who want to pursue a managerial career.
Educational Institutions Management program was opened to educate administrators for public and private educational institutions and local and foreign educationla agencies. The aim of the program is to educate executive candidates who will meet the needs of the education sector in strategic and managerial decision making. In this context, it is aimed to provide the students with the knowledge and skills that will contribute to the development of the education sector, to analyze the problems they may encounter in the management and to gain the problem solving skills.
The content of the program was developed through a process in which the stakeholders, who have direct or indirect links with the sector, actively participated in order to meet the human resource needs of the education sector. In order to achieve the mentioned objectives effectively, related courses are taught by faculty members in the fields of educational sciences, international relations, political science, law, finance and business administration.
Program Qualifications
The qualifications of the students who will graduate from Non-thesis Master Program in Management in Educational Institutions are as follows:
- Gaining administrative competencies to meet the increasing demands of social change for educational institutions,
- Gaining the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values needed for the management of public education institutions, education institutions opened by the private sector and education institutions opened abroad,
- Gaining and applying new skills in areas such as change and technology leadership, performance management, budgeting skills, management of special education and guidance services, project management, data-based decision-making, school-based management, action research and contract management,
- Analyzing the relationship between education, economy, culture and society,
- Applying the necessary knowledge and skills in many areas ranging from the opening and planning processes of the private education institution to the operation of education in accordance with the aims,
Admission Requirements
Candidates who apply to graduate programs must have a bachelor’s degree in Turkey or abroad. ALES and language proficiency scores are not required.
Foreign applicants must have obtained a document from Turkish Teaching Center (TÖMER) indicating that they have the knowledge of advanced Turkish. Candidates who do not have this certificate must enter the Turkish exam of our university. ALES score is not required from foreign applicants.
Admission of students to MA Program in Educational Institutions Management is carried out in accordance with the conditions specified in the Graduate Education Regulations of Istanbul Medeniyet University.
Evaluation and placement of candidates; 50% of the undergraduate GPA, 50% of the interview scores are determined by summation.

Curriculum
There is no compulsory course in the first and second semester of our program. During these two semesters, our participants can create their own programs by choosing the courses they want to develop in their fields. Candidates will also complete a term project with their chosen advisors as a condition of graduation. You can find detailed information about the contents of the courses in the next section.

Employment Opportunities
Candidates who wish to become school administrators in public schools will be accepted as graduate students in management after completing our program. Candidates graduating from this field will receive an additional 3 points in the administrative appointments carried out by the Ministry of National Education. In addition, our graduates can work as managers in educational institutions and other enterprises in the education sector.
Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from the master’s program, participants must complete at least 24 credits and must successfully complete term Project course. Other provisions related to graduation are as follows.
ISTANBUL MEDENİYET UNIVERSITY GRADUATE EDUCATION AND TRAINING REGULATION ARTICLE 34-
(1) The period of completion of the master's program without thesis is at least two semesters and maximum three semesters, regardless of whether or not they have registered for each semester, starting from the period in which the courses related to the program they are enrolled are given, excluding the period spent in scientific preparation. At the end of this period, the student who fails or fails to complete the program is dismissed from the University.
(2) For graduation, the student must succeed in the courses, provide the required credits, have a weighted grade point average of at least 2.50 and have successfully completed the term project course. The student is obliged to take new courses or repeat courses until he / she meets the weighted grade point average requirement.
