General Information About Program
History:
Department of Economics at Istanbul Medeniyet University was established in 2010.
Program Goals:
The primary objective of the program is to enable students to follow scientific developments and innovations in the fields of international trade and investment management, and to apply current methods and techniques in their business lives. In particular, the program aims to equip the students with the most recent theoretical and practical knowledge on the subject especially in considering the global developments in the last 30 years in the field of digital commerce.
The program intends to train entrepreneurs and executives in the fields of international trade and investment management. It is aimed to produce qualified human capital needed by the real sector, especially in the fields of digital economy, investment and marketing.
ALES (Turkish Aptitude Test) and Foreign Language Test scores are not required for applying to the non-thesis master’s program in the Department of Economics at Istanbul Medeniyet University. However, applicants are required to submit their transcripts and take written or oral exam for acceptance to the program.
1. Students are able to understand national and international literature in the fields of international trade, investment management, international finance, digital economy and conduct independent scientific research on those fields.
2. Students have knowledge about the basic stages of a scientific research process and the current methods and approaches to be followed in these stages.
3. Students prepare research proposal and produce effective research designs.
4. Students are able to use the basic quantitative techniques that is necessary in the research process.
5. Students have knowledge about current economics applications and scientific research methods.
6. Students have the consciousness to act in accordance with the ethical rules and general ethical principles.

Graduation Requirements:
The program’s language of instruction is Turkish. The program covers a maximum of 3 semesters of study, of which 2 semesters consist of course works. Students who successfully complete the courses are required to prepare a graduation project and present it successfully to his/her advisor. For graduation, it is compulsory for students to successfully complete 30 credits of courses except the Graduation Project.
Graduates of Non-Thesis Master Programs cannot continue doctoral studies. Our graduates can continue their careers as entrepreneurs and managers.
