About the Program
Tourism is one of the important sectors that grow and develop steadily in both world and Turkey. The steady growth of the tourism sector has led to a dynamic and intense competition among countries, regions and businesses wishing to get more shares from tourism revenues. Diversification of tourism product in this dynamic and intense competitive environment has become an important strategy for many countries, regions or businesses. Health tourism, which states that people travel to another place to protect their health or to regain their health, has emerged as a result of product diversification strategy in tourism. Health tourism which has higher average spending of travelers than other types of tourism, not affected by seasonal fluctuations and rapidly growing health tourism in Turkey, is supported by the government with serious incentives. In parallel with these developments, health tourism management has emerged as a separate area of expertise. Because to be able to manage health tourism effectively and efficiently, it requires theoretical and practical knowledge of health sector and health institutions on the one hand and tourism sector and tourism enterprises on the other hand. The program, which has been created with this understanding, has been prepared considering the developments in health tourism management in the world and in our country. The language of the program is Turkish and the students are required to prepare a project after completing 30 credits of course.
Acceptance Conditions
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree from the Faculties of Health Sciences, Tourism, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Economic and Administrative Sciences, Political Sciences or other faculties.
Program Competencies
• Gain theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of health tourism management.
• Have theoretical and practical knowledge about health tourism, historical development and economic dimension of health tourism.
• Have knowledge and skills about strategic management, performance management, quality management and human resources management in health tourism organizations.
• Know, interpret and translate international health legislation and patient rights.
• Obtain theoretical and practical knowledge about ethics, policy and planning, information systems, professional foreign language, financing and intermediary institutions in health tourism.
• Make original studies in the field of health tourism management and contribute to the field with these studies.
• Learn marketing strategies in the context of health tourism and produce projects for the implementation of these strategies.
• Gain knowledge and skills about people and intercultural communication.
• Have knowledge about basic concepts and terminology in the field of health.

Graduation Requirements
In order to obtain a non-thesis master's degree in the field of Health Tourism Management, students must successfully complete all of the compulsory and elective courses (equivalent to 77 ECTS), have a GPA of at least 2.50 and successfully complete the semester project course.
