Zainab Alhaj Hasan

Zainab Alhaj Hasan received her bachelor degree in Modern Languages and Literature in 2008 from University of Jordan. After graduation she worked at the University of Jordan as Academic Advisor for foreign students at the Foreign Languages Centre.  She also taught Spanish at the same university under King Abdullah Fund. She then worked at Qasid Arabic Institute as Programs Supervisor, Curriculum Composer and Volunteering Advisor.  She has been involved in volunteer work with the refugee aid group dedicated to assisting Syrian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. Zainab was a visiting lecturer and instructor at EDEP Institute in Istanbul, Turkey. She is fluent in three languages; Arabic (native speaker), English and Spanish. She also obtained C1 level certificate of Turkish at Kocaeli University. Zainab joined the preparatory year of M.A. program in Ottoman studies in the academic year of 2016-2017.

Hadia Gherbi

Hadia Gherbi was born in Algeria. She graduated from the English Literature Department. She is fluent in three languages (Arabic, French and English). After graduation, she taught English as a second language in a private school for two years. Hadia  joined the preparatory year of M.A. program in Ottoman studies in the academic year of 2016-2017.

Mehmet Hoşoğlu

Mehmet Hoşoğlu graduated from International Relations Department at Boğaziçi University in 2015. He is interested in comparative political history and Ottoman history. Mehmet joined the preparatory year of M.A. program in Ottoman studies in the academic year of 2016-2017.

Elham Jashari

Elham Jashari was born in 1984 in Peshkopia, Albania. He holds a Bachelor Degree from the University of Tirana, Foreign Languages Faculty, Slavic-Balkan Languages Department, Turkology (2016). He was an exchange student in Trakya University at Edirne during his junior year. Elham joined the preparatory year of M.A. program in Ottoman studies in the academic year of 2016-2017.

Esra Keskin

Esra Keskin was born in 1983 in İzmit, Turkey. She graduated from the Department of English Language and Literature at Kocaeli University. She also completed a Pedagogical Formation Program at Seljuk University. She worked as an English language teacher for seven years. Currently, she is eager to further her training in the field of Ottoman history and wishes to be a talented and ambitious “Ottomanist”. Esra joined the preparatory year of M.A. program in Ottoman studies in the academic year of 2016-2017.

Şeyma Mert

Şeyma Mert was born in Konya in 1987. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Religion and Ethics Teaching from Sakarya University in 2016. She received her Associate of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Pennfoster College and Theology from Anadolu University in 2014. She continues her graduate studies in International Ottoman Studies. She is interested in Ottoman history since her childhood. She likes to trace the cultures and social history of countries and regions that share Ottoman heritage. Şeyma joined the preparatory year of M.A. program in Ottoman studies in the academic year of 2016-2017.

Asil Talahma

Asil was born and raised in Palestine. She graduated from Hebron University, Arabic Language and Literature Department in 2015. During her study, she worked as an editor, creative writing teacher, and as an Arabic teacher for foreigners in Palestine. She is involved with many literature activities, and she is a formal member of many culture clubs. She is known as a young poet; when she was 19 years old she took the second place in writing poetry in the Arab world (Nazik Al Malaaka Prize). She believes that there are no borders no limits for knowledge.

Arabiatul Aqilah Ahmad

Arabiatul was born and raised in Brunei. She graduated from the History and International Studies Department of University Brunei Darussalam in 2016, with a First Class Honours Bachelor's degree in Historical Studies. She completed a year abroad at Columbia University, New York City in 2014 under the university's Visiting Student Program. She is fluent in Malay and English, with C1-level knowledge of Turkish and B1-level knowledge of French. Ara joined the preparatory year of the M.A. program in International Ottoman Studies in the academic year of 2017-2018.

Hakan Cengiz

Hakan was born in İstanbul. He graduated from the History Department of Bogazici University in 2017. As soon as graduated, he got acceptance into the M.A program in the department of International Ottoman Studies in Medeniyet University. He is fluent in Turkish (native language) and English. Besides, he knows Spanish and Persian in pre-intermediate level. He is interested in the political, cultural and social history of the Ottoman Empire.

Camilla Pletuhina

Camilla was born in 1993 in Moldova, Gagauzia. After completing her high school education, she was granted a scholarship to study at Anadolu University, Turkey. Before enrolling in the university, she attended Turkish language preparatory classes at Ankara University.  She graduated from Anadolu University, Department of History in 2017. During her bachelor studies, has spent 6 months in Germany studying American history at the University of Cologne. She is fluent in three languages: Russian (native speaker), English and Turkish. Her research interests include Ottoman history, Balkan history, comparative history, nation-building and identity formation, Ottoman palaeography and Ottoman-Turkish westernization.

Abdul Halim M. Bohari

Abdul Halim was born and raised in Malaysia. He received his bachelor degree in History from Bogaziçi University in 2018. During his undergraduate years, he completed one semester in University of Amsterdam under Erasmus Program. He is fluent in Turkish and English and competent in reading Persian. He has been working as Turkish-Malay translator for several occasions. Halim joined the M.A. program in International Ottoman Studies in the academic year of 2018-2019.

Adile Eminova

Adile Eminova was born in 1996 in Crimea, Ukraine. She obtained her BA from Istanbul 29 Mayis University department of History in 2018. In summer 2016 she did her internship at Mevlana Museum in Konya. In the same year she took part in 7th International Scientific Conference of Colloquia Russica in Czech Republic. Adile was accepted to the MA program of International Ottoman Studies at Istanbul Medeniyet University in 2018. She is Fluent in Russian, Ukranian, English and Turkish. Her field of interests concern the Crimean Khanate, its diplomacy, cultural and social aspects.

Burak Muhsin Akın

Burak Muhsin was born and raised in İstanbul, Turkey. He graduated from the History Department of İstanbul Şehir University in the June 2018. After graduation, he started his MA in Ottoman Studies at İstanbul Medeniyet University. During his bachelor’s degree, Burak attended several academic programs and got involved in various social and cultural activities at different platforms. He is specifically interested in the cultural history of the Ottoman Empire, in the context of Sufism and Sufi related institutions during the early modern period. Burak Muhsin’s mother tongue is Turkish. He is fluent in English and has a pre-intermediate level in Arabic and an elementary level in Persian.

Hatice Kamalı

Hatice graduated from History Department at TOBB University of Economics and Technology, with a double major in International Relations in 2018. After graduation, she got acceptance into İstanbul Medeniyet University’s M.A program in International Ottoman Studies. Hatice is interested in the history of transition from Ottoman Empire to the Republican Turkey.

Hayrullah Sadıkoğlu

Hayrullah Sadıkoğlu was born in Trabzon in 1989. He graduated from Department of Business Administration at Istanbul University. After graduation, he has been working as an auditor at the Ministry of LabourSocial Services and Family, Hayrullah is especially interested in financial establishments of Ottoman period and the developments of social services throughout Ottoman history. He joined the scientific preparatory program of M.A. at International Ottoman Studies in the Spring term in the academic year of 2018-2019.

Hayrunnisa Aslan

Hayrunnisa Aslan was born and raised in Germany. After her Abitur she started to study Ethnology and Law at Eberhart Karls University in Tübingen and continued her study at Istanbul University Theology Faculty where she graduated in 2018. During her Bachelor’s Degree she attended the seminars of the Klasik Düşünce Okulu for three years. Throughout her education in Germany and in Istanbul she learned German, English, Arabic and Russian and developed her skills in reading Ottoman-Turkish texts. Hayrunnisa joined the preparatory year of M.A. program in Ottoman Studies in the academic year of 2018-2019.

Imam Ragimov

Imam Taimurazovich Ragimov was born in Saint-Petersburg in 1993. In 2012 he finished high school at the Republic of Dagestan and was awarded with the Turkish Scholarship Grant at the University of Yalova, at the International Relations department. During his high school years he participated in the numerous competitions at the Republican level. He is a prize winner at the Republic Olympiad of Russian and Dagestan history, economics, biology, ecology and Russian law. During his stay in Turkey he worked with the different Russian companies representing them at the international business fairs in Istanbul. He is fluent in Russian, Lezgi, English and Turkish. In 2017 he was awarded with the Turkish scholarship Grant second time in the field of Ottoman history. He likes politics, history and linguistics. Imam joined the preparatory year of M.A program in Ottoman studies in the academic year of 2018-2019.

Murat Külünk

Murat Külünk was born in Izmit in 1987. He graduated from Economics Department at Ankara University in 2010. He has been working at Ministry of Treasury and Finance as insurance supervisor since 2011. Murat joined the preparatory year of M.A. program in International Ottoman studies in the academic year of 2018-2019.

Nurkan Sever

Nurkan was graduated from the International Relations department of Eastern Mediterranean University (Cyprus) in 2002 and has been working for multinational companies since 2005.  His major interests in Ottoman History are Constitutional Monarchy, Local Authorities, Land and Taxation plus a special interest in Historical Sociology as an interdisciplinary subfield. Nurkan has studied Ottoman Turkish and Arabic for his enthusiasm of History and he can also speak fluent English and Italian. He joined the preparatory year of M.A program in Ottoman studies in the academic year of 2018-2019.

Rahaf Almomani

Rahaf is from Jordan. She received a first honor bachelor degree in Islamic studies and Media from Yarmouk University in 2016. She worked as a content writer and editor for one year. Rahaf is interested in the cultural heritage and architecture of the Ottoman Empire especially in the Arab lands. She speaks Arabic (Native language), English and Turkish. Rahaf joined the preparatory year of M.A program in Ottoman studies in the academic year of 2018-2019.

Shah Zaib

Shah Zaib was born in 1994. He graduated from International Mustafa Germirli İ.H.L from Kayseri in 2013 and from Istanbul 29 Mayıs University in 2018. He is fluent in Urdu, English, Turkish and Arabic. Shah was accepted to Istanbul Medeniyet University International Ottoman studies M.A program in 2018 and joined the preparatory year of the program in the same year.
